ALSO CALLED A SNOWBIRD:

You may see Dark-eyed Juncos in the summer, but come fall, many more — those that have been nesting in the mountains or farther north — arrive to spend the winter. These juncos often visit birdfeeders for winter feasting.

COMMON REDPOLL

WE WILL SEE THIS LITTLE GUY AROUND OUR FEEDERS THIS WINTER.  WEIGHS AS MUCH AS 4 PENNIES.

DON'T GET IT MIXED UP WITH THE HOUSE FINCH.

SONG SPARROW

It is  spring time and the fields and woods are full of this melodious song.

They are singing, "maids, maids, maids, put on your teakettle-ettle-ettle ettle."

The first hummingbird to show up in the Spring.  Often times mid-March  when we still have frosty nights and snow.  The Rufous.
